HPD registration
Property owners of residential multiple family dwellings (3+ residential units). If you use your single home or two family as an investment/rental property, you are required to register with
HPD.
Who is NOT required to register
Private dwellings where the owner or the owner’s immediate family reside are NOT required to register annually with HPD.
What happens if I do not register my building with HPD
HPD will issue Class I Violations/Commissioner’s Orders to properties that have not registered. HPD may also impose fines ($250 – $500).
